Glucosatrin® Bone & Joint Health

Glucosatrin combines special glucosamine and herbal ingredients to provide an important nutritional approach for healthy joints and cartilage in one easy-to-take, affordable dietary supplement.

Glucosamine sulfate, sulfate a bioactive amino sugar compound that acts as a precursor to the body’s synthesis of cartilage and other materials, is the building block of your body’s cartilage. Glucosamine sulfate supplements the body’s own production of glucosamine, supplying the body with GAGs (Glycosaminoglycans), basic materials for cartilage and joint structures.

Glucosamine sulfate has been shown to decrease the symptoms of osteoarthritis, including joint pains and mobility (functional limitation). In addition, studies have found that over a three-year period, glucosamine has been shown to slow the progression of osteoarthritic joint changes.

Glucosatrin's active ingredients can help relieve pain and joint inflammation with osteoarthritis. It also helps to support and maintain healthy cartilage.

 

Ingredients

Glucosamine
Glucosamine is an aminopolysaccharide (a combination of the amino acid — glutamine and a sugar — glucose). Glucosamine is concentrated in joint cartilage where it is incorporated in longer chains known as glycosaminoglycans and finally into very large structures known as proteoglycans. Glucosamine is naturally produced by the body and is a key component of cartilage. Glucosamine supports healthy joint function and promotes the normal production of synovial fluid, which lubricates your joints and regenerates cartilage. There are numerous European studies showing a clear benefit of glucosamine supplements for promoting joint health.

Scutellaria Root
Scutellaria is also called Scullcap and is a member of the mint family. There are more than 100 related species of scutellaria throughout North America, Europe and China. In traditional Chinese medicine, scutellaria has been used for supporting healthy joints. Three bioactive flavonoids — baicalin, baicalein and wogonin — have been extracted from scutellaria and are thought to contribute to the major activities of the plant. All three flavonoids have been shown to support healthy joints.

Boswellia Resin
The boswellia plant produces a resin that has been used in traditional Indian medicine as a support for joint health. The plant has a long history of safe and effective use for promoting joint comfort. It supports normal mobility.  Boswellia Resin contains active boswellic acids which have been shown to support healthy cartilage and joint health.

Hops Extract
Hops (Humulus lupulus) have long been associated with beer and ale, but the beverage originally called ale in English was made from fermented malt only and contained no hops. Hops appears to promote bone health.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an essential vitamin that your body cannot produce on its own. Around 90 percent of vitamin C in the typical diet comes from fresh fruits and vegetables. Some of the best sources are peppers (sweet green and red peppers and hot red and green chili peppers), citrus fruits and juices, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, collards, mustard greens, broccoli, spinach and strawberries. Vitamin C is a well known antioxidant. Additionally, it is important for normal collagen production which makes up bones. Therefore, vitamin C plays a role in maintaining optimal bone heath.  

Vitamin K1
Vitamin K1, known as phylloquinone, is made by most plants and is found in high amounts in green leafy vegetables. It plays a role in bone health by supporting the optimal utilization of calcium.

Zinc
Zinc is largely found in fortified cereals, red meats, eggs, poultry and certain seafood, including oysters. It is a component of multiple enzymes and proteins. Zinc is an essential trace mineral that has functions in approximately 300 different enzyme reactions. Thus, zinc plays a part in almost all biochemical pathways and physiological processes. More than 90 percent of the body’s zinc is stored in the bones and muscles.

Copper
The richest sources of dietary copper derive from organ meats, seafood, nuts, seeds, wheat bran cereal, whole grain products and cocoa products. Copper may have some antioxidant properties and acts as a component of enzymes in iron metabolism. It is an essential trace mineral. Copper is important for bone strength.

Manganese
The richest dietary sources of manganese include whole grains, nuts, leafy vegetables and teas. Manganese is important mineral that helps support calcium absorption and also promoting the normal formation of bones.  

Potassium
Foods rich in potassium include fresh vegetables and fruits, such as bananas, oranges, cantaloupe, avocado, raw spinach, cabbage and celery. Potassium is an essential macromineral that helps to keep fluid balance and plays a role in a wide variety of biochemical and physiological processes.

FAQ

Why is chondroitin not included in Glucosatrin?
Chondroitin sulfate, a popular ingredient in other bone and joint formulas, is not included in Glucosatrin because studies have proved inconclusive about its effectiveness. At least a half dozen studies show that the bioavailability of chondroitin sulfate is highly variable, ranging from zero to 13 percent of any given dose, with the average uptake being about six percent. In addition, one study has linked chondroitin sulfate to prostate cancer.
 
Will my customer still benefit if they take less than the recommended three tablets a day?
Studies have shown that 1500 mg glucosamine are required daily for joint health.

Why is Glucosatrin not in an isotonic form?
It is difficult to make some of the botanical ingredients in Glucosatrin isotonic, while still maintaining calorie content. Other ingredients in Glucosatrin do not have a pleasant taste (they are bitter) and are delivered in a tablet to avoid lingering on the tongue.
